New Zealand Whitewater

New Zealand can be considered the home of bungy jumping and the first recommended spot (operated by AJ Hackett) would be at Kawarau River near Queenstown. There is a large number of different operators allaround the country offering bungy jumps. These spots are usually located on bridges over breath taking river gorges.

Paragliding and skydiving – the inexperienced will go in tandem with the instructor – is quite popular in the most important resort centres across the country, such as Nelson, Queenstown and Rotorua.

Jet boating and whitewater rafting can be enjoyed in the New Zealand’s unique network of rivers. The so called blackwater rafting (rafting in the dark) is very popular at the Nile River Canyon near Westport and Waitomo Caves near Hamilton.

A new adventure activity in New Zealand is called zorbing – rolling downhill in a big inflatable ball.

Tourists can try the fly by wire rides in Queenstown and Wellington as an ultimate thrill. With fly by wire allows tourists ca control of a tethered high speed plane
